1. Don't eat college food.

Well, there's nothing quite like being taken to the ER at 3AM. It's been over a week, and I'm surprised I'm still functioning.

Here's some things I did that may help you:

Pedialyte, Pedialyte, Pedialyte! Yes, it's for children. Yes, it tastes nasty. I mixed two parts unflavored Pedialyte with one part cherry Juicy Juice. It worked: I stayed hydrated and stayed alive while not killing my taste buds.

Cheerios! I know the usual schtick is to have saltines first, but the saltiness hurt my stomach and made me feel all rumbly and set me back a day or so.

If you're admitted to the hospital, keep your bracelet on once you're out. People will not mess with you. Also, if you work or are a student, get a "sick note" from your attending physician so you can miss work/school for a day or more.

If you're my age and worried what the hospital staff will think of you, don't worry. I knew that, being a college freshman and throwing up, they'd think I was some dumbass who couldn't hold her liquor. However, the blood tests will tell the truth. I got some flack from the employee who admitted me because I didn't have my medical card. I should've thrown up on his glass window, but hindsight is 20/20.

If you know where your tainted food came from, tell them. If more than one person got sick, make a ruckus! Obviously, my food comes from my university because I dorm. I emailed the head of Dining Services about my case and the fact that two other students had gotten ill, too (one of whom was in the hospital the same time I was). All he said was that he hoped I felt better and that he wanted to meet with me. I responded...and it's been over a week since I heard from him. He's never in his office, either. Now I'm being a badass and talking trash. I'll probably sic my momma on him soon enough. It's really difficult only having a bagel and vegetables for every meal because the other food choices are greasy, fancy pancy, or just plain gross.

I ended up going to Walmart and getting myself yogurt, Nature Valley Oats 'N Honey bars, and Quaker Oatmeal.

I will survive! And will post more fun stuff soon!
